Becky Parrish is a long time resident of Alton. She comes to CCS with a combined total of over 25 years' experience working with children from babies through high school in the areas of special ed., Christian ed., home ed., and homeschool cooperatives. She holds her Bachelor of Arts in English from Judson University where she graduated in 1998.
Becky is convinced through the Scriptures that the education of children is a crucial part of the duty of parents to disciple their children in the "fear and admonition of the Lord." Having served the last eight years as the Director of Children's Ministries for her church, she counts it a privilege to come alongside parents in a supportive role in this duty. She especially receives great joy in teaching children how to see God's truth, beauty, and goodness in the world around them.
Becky has been married to her college sweetheart, Jason, for 28 years and they have four children. From their home school of sixteen years, they have graduated their two oldest children. Excitedly joining Becky at CCS are her two youngest kiddos, Chloe, 15, and Christian, 11. If given a day to do anything she wants, Becky chooses the wonder of the St. Louis Art Museum by day and the magic of the Muny stage by night.
Shawn Adler was born and raised in Alton. He has joined with CCS to teach Visual and Fine Arts. Shawn arrives at CCS with 36 years of experience teaching and directing both Children and Youth ministry programs in the local church setting. Currently, Shawn is involved with assisting a regional home-school enrichment co-op program, in teaching Art to primary age children and high school youth. Prior to this Mr. Adler was employed at Maryville Christian School in Maryville, IL for 12 years as the K-12 Visual Arts Instructor. Mr. Adler is thoroughly convinced that a classical approach to the arts is a wonderful way to spark interest and foster understanding of other disciplines for students, as their “creative spirit” is exercised for Christ.
A deep appreciation for the arts was fostered in Shawn while studying Architectural design in college at Kansas State University. Mr. Adler is excited to join with CCS in seeing the school’s vision and mission to …“grow students in knowledge and understanding while seeking God’s truth, God’s goodness, and God’s beauty” realized in the sphere of young lives.
Away from the classroom, Mr. Adler enjoys doing anything with his wife Diane of 34 years. This includes hiking in the southwest, antique hunting, art museums or simply going on long walks with his wife and adorable pet dachshund Lilly.
